On the morning of April 27th, Telecom Egypt and Hengtong held a signing ceremony of strategic cooperation during the the Second Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation in Beijing. Dr. Amr Talaat, Minister of Communications and Information Technology of Egypt, Adel Hamed, CEO of Telecom Egypt, Chairman Cui Genliang, Vice President Wu Qianjun of Hengtong Group and Tan Huiliang, President of Hengtong International Business Group, and other senior management attended the signing ceremony.
Before the ceremony, Cui Genliang held meetings with Dr. Amr Talaat, Adel Hamed and senior management of Telecom Egypt respectively, and exchanged ideas on further investment cooperation in Egypt.
With the witness of Dr. Amr Talaat, Adel Hamed, Cui Genliang, and Tan Huiliang signed the strategic cooperation agreements on behalf of both sides respectively, while Adel Hamed and Wu Qianjun signed the project cooperation agreements.
Hengtong's cooperation with Egypt dates back to 2011. In 2012, Hengtong became the only Chinese company to enter the Egyptian telecommunications market. In 2014, Hengtong won the bid of the Optical Fiber Communication Network Project in Egypt's Presidential Palace. In March 2018, a joint venture invested by Hengtong and Hitek NOFAL Group in Egypt opened and put into operation in Bader Industrial City, Cairo, which is the first fiber optic cable factory in Egypt.
